Google Analyticsのトータルユニークイベント数は対象期間におけるイベントの発生したユニークセッション数

Google Analyticsのユニークイベント数に関しては、色々と疑問をもたれることがあります。

その一つにたとえば、上の例ですが、2つのユニークイベントを足しあわせても合計の「46,873」にならないじゃないか。。。というのがよくある質問。

「Unique Events refers to the number of visits that contained an Event. It's a little confusing: it's not the number of actual events of each type that occurred, but the number of visits to your website where the Event in question is triggered.

What it looks like is there were ●●●● visits to your site with an Event of one kind or another; but lots of those visits had multiple Events. That's why the numbers don't add up.」

※●●●●は僕が具体的な数字を伏せましたが特に意味はありません。

つまり、一番上に表示されている数字は下の合計値ではなく、何かしらのイベント(trackEvent)が発生したユニークなセッション数だということです。

なるほど！という感じですが数字を慎重に扱わなければなりませんね。
